Drying Eggshell
Egg Shell is a necessary by-product from the production of pasteurised egg. Until recently, these shells were considered, and treated as a waste product. Recent investment in processing hardware means that we can now utilise every part of the egg to provide useful, beneficial product to our customers. The egg shell contains 4.5% protein in addition to its abrasive qualities, and we are always talking to mainstream industries to see how egg shell can best be used to enhance their products. Waste Water Treatment
We have our own Effluent plant on site and Reed beds to treat our waste water.Recycling Egg Trays
We have recently installed a briquetting machine to convert our used egg trays into briquettes or Trogs as we have called them! Trogs are made from 100% Recycled Egg Trays and are a sustainable source of heat. They are suitable for use in Open fires, Woodburners, Chimineas and Fire Pits. We are finalising plans to install a Bio-mass boiler to utilise these briquettes.
Baling Plastic
We have a baling machine that we use to compact our plastic waste. The baled plastic is collected by a local recycling company significantly reducing our waste to landfill.Solar Panels
In 2012 we installed solar panels on to several of our buildings.
Voltage Power Optimisation
As part of our ongoing drive to save energy and minimise our impact on the environment we installed a Power Perfector unit in 2014 This unit optimises our voltage usage reducing the strain on our electrical equipment, leaving it to work more reliably and for longer. This not only increases efficiency but also brings savings in energy consumption.Logistics
Recently we have made substantial investment in our transport equipment resulting in a modern reliable fleet fitted with GPS tracking units and vehicle temperature loggers which produce proof of temperature in transit if required. The GPS tracking systems have enabled us to lower our fuel consumption by cutting out unnecessary mileage, therefore reducing our carbon footprint. They also provide information to give us a clear view of how deliveries are progressing making it much easier to manage and spot any potential problems.
Environmental Certification
We have reached Phase 2 of Standard BS8555:2003 in Environmental Management and are continuously trying to improve.
